From the moment we pulled off the highway onto the country road leading to Kalien, we exhaled. A tough year filled with cancer, death and a pending surgery for my husband, we needed a weekend away. A weekend to rest, dream and pray. Kalien provided that. From the personal attention to details that you put into our stay knowing what we were coming to receive, to the amazing food, to the fellowship and comradery. Randy and Gina, thank you for a wonderful weekend. We can't wait to have you in Virginia visiting our Sanctuary so we can return the favor!

Uninterrupted beauty! Peace and quiet, possible wildlife to watch and the joy of rest .... and if you just have to get out into the public, there are some unique gems of places to eat and listen to music not very far away even though you feel like you're thousands of miles away from every where! Highly recommended!
My "rainy Monday" spent at Kalien was the kind of quiet day away from the noise that I needed. Even though I couldn't get out and walk much, simply listening to the quiet rhythm of the rain falling on the roof was just the atmosphere I needed. I wish I had planned another day. :-)

The KR Cottage was absolutely incredible. Falling asleep with the sounds of the forest and waking up to the sunrise peeking over the mountains is indescribable. The night I spent there was so relaxing and honestly felt so luxurious I could barely believe it was real. KR is a great place for artists to go to rest and rejuvenate their souls!
